1905 replica frame (real engine 5 HP)

Post by adrie.degraaff »

I know he was building it with his son, i would have made it in to Ariel, this is a more universal frame.
A racing engine is 6 HP with differend barrels.

Are those estimates realistic?
No at all familiar with the market, but would have thought due to rarity, prices would be higher.

Okay. I wouldn’t have thought the U.S.
would have an interest outside of the
AMCNA.

So this isn't an Ariel then Adrie? It looks similar... Have you got any background on it? He made the frame himself?

I have been to his home 35 years ago when he was still living in Oxonhope near Keighley, i tryed to buy the engine but he told me he was going to make the frame himself.
Much later on the Anglo-Dutch he told me he was making it with his son.

You can still alter it to the 1905 road Ariel but it's better to make a new frame.

As you can see the exhaust is differend and the rearwheel luggs are not like Ariel, the headstock lugg is more like Triumph.
It's still a very rare engine but in 1905 already outdated for racing.

He also told me he swapped the 1908 Ariel engine to the 1909 frame becouse it was in better shape, i bought the 1908 with the 1909 engine of him.
