I bough it of Claus Straub and don't remember much of all these lines after +/- 100 motorcycles.
Just bought a 1980 Honda XL 250 s to do offroads in Spain and a new Honda SH 350 i scooter for my wife.

The Minerva engine with Ariel cast on the crankcase came from the autumn Stafford show and would be of an 1904 Ariel number 2 or Fleet number 2.

Judging by the frame number I'd say this is a couple of years older than 1919.

I think the frame is about right, I have calculated that the 1919 frames started at about 5100. The engine is probably earlier 1916-18, possibly 1919 I have 1916 starting at 8650 and 1919 at 9240. These numbers have been interpolated from 4.3 records per year for engines and 5.6 for the frames. I have a register of the 1910-25 machines with several sheets for numbers, graphs, with circles and arrows on the back, and dating by features, happy to send you a copy as it includes a fair bit of info collected by you and would welcome comments and corrections.

That is a fair bit of work Roger. I still maintain my list of W&P bikes when I see a new one. It helped me get my TT onto the Pioneer Register - must be twenty years ago now. I've had it since 2004 I think. The Registrar commented `that's the most comprehensive application we've ever had' :-)
