I had a chat with Stuart McFarlane some while ago regarding his A10 starter kit. He had converted one huntmaster with the same kit but said he would never do it again. The problem is that the Ariel primary drive is very narrow compared to the BSA one and there is no room for the sprag clutch. I believe that he made the primary drive wider somehow and perhaps enclosed the clutch as well.

One thing that I can tell you is that there is a lot of room underneath the gearbox, which is where the A10 starter is fitted. It drives a sprag clutch in the primary case through a chain or belt from the motor hanging under the engine. That's where I'd start if I was thinking about doing such a thing...
cheers

I haven't seen too Many starter conversions I'd trust and they could be very costly. Hence my suggestion, though most Indian Enfields don't do Much for Me, they are cheap and look old Have sprung rear ends Indicator Lights electric start and spares are plentiful and cheap.. Nev
