Papers say 1939 but tin chaincase would be more post '43 ?

This bike was built by J Hicks on 14th August 1943 as one of 1,800 bikes for contract C 14218 for the RAF. I don't have a copy of the parts book for this contract but steel primary cases were fitted to some contracts from 1943 onwards so it may well be correct. Unfortunately I cannot see the engine number.

All around I see lots of classic bikes coming on the market.
But are there any takers ?
Nope, forget it !
Yesterday I visited someone who had several really nice classic bikes and now, being over seventy wanting to sell some of them.
A pukka BSA Goldstar, a BSA Rocket Gold Star lookalike, a Guzzi Falcone a Guzzi Superalce and a Guzzi V7 Sport.
All in very good order after spending loads of cash on each and every one.

Enjoy them as long as you can and forget about them having ANY value AT ALL !!
When push comes to shove be happy to swop them for a loaf of bread

On it’s own this can become a nice W/NG indeed. But it is quite long on the market now and it seems struggling to sell. Yes the ‘old bike market’ is looking in serious decline. Quite some classic bike owners still have the idea their bikes are worth lots of money which is unfortunately not longer the case. If you search the net you can read countless articles concerning this decline, and it will become painfully clear that the heydays of vintage motorcycle sale are gone...
