Re: 4g mkII
This is the best place for it, unless you don't mind it being in plain sight. What you need is one of these. You then give this tool to a young person and get him to lie on the ground.
Re: 4g mkII
Where do you get one? And what is it called

I agree. Mine is under there too, and yes it's not the easiest but you can get some decent ground clearance with it up there.Chris Sealy wrote: Sat Jan 31, 2026 11:11 am This is the best place for it, unless you don't mind it being in plain sight...
I'm embarrassed to say that I lived with a persistent drip for months - years possibly - before I realised it wasn't done up tight enough! Where do I get that tool from?!
cheers

Hi
Amazon have them:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Filter-Removal ... 547&sr=8-9
Also very useful for wrapping around Lucas alternator rotors to turn engines when timing or tightening nuts

My choice is; Morris Golden Film AG90. There are several others which are suitable. Don't use a modern EP oil which, according to the experts, will dissolve bronze and brass.
On the GB7 gearbox there should be an oil level plug, just under and to the rear of the kickstart shaft. Put the bike on its rear stand, and pour oil in until it runs out of the hole.
