The front brake is not even hooked up. It could be the REAL thing being a Dutch "after war" bike with some crook guards etc Did THEY have a PANEL tank. The front brake appears to be an "all steel" small Brake. I have one like that but haven't used it on anything as I doubt it would stop well. it's in good Nick if anyone wants it. I won't Post from here as I've been caught with the cost of that before. Nev

I looked closely to the pictures of the girder forks, and allmost sure these are Indian ones… lf you look at the rather crude castings and finishing it must be. A set of real good genuine Ariel girders will set you back aprox. 1200,- or more euro’s if you can find them! Untill now the Indian made forks do have very negative reviews.

I wouldn't read too much into the position of the number, the man stamping it didn't have a jig, just a big hammer and a set of stamps. You are right about the forks, so not only is it not original, in bad condition it is also a death trap.

There's a Doghouse Customs video on YouTube about those forks, from a few years ago. It's alarming.
cheers

I guess a wire brush will give more clarity about the frame number.

Yes quite frightening actualy… and the sad thing is that ignorant people unable what to look for will become a victim. Unfortunately these things happen.
