Wanted: Valve spring compressor side valve
I started work on my VB lately. To replace the valve springs I need a propper valve spring compressor for a sidevalve engine. Does anyone have that tool spare or could point me where to find one?
Thanks

Difficult, I found a couple on ebay but neither are particularly good.

I made one from a old wood clamp
you can borrow it, but pretty heavy.
edit, Oh, for taking the springs off this worked o.k.
For putting them back on there was initially very little room to slide the foot of the woodclamp in between valve spring and the opening on the cylinder chest.
I did get around it somehow but it was not a straightforward job.

I have a nice Terry's one but it needed modifying. I have thought of making some as a little project.
Terry's on the left 6631-37 genuine Ariel, for a SQ4

Thanks for the advice. I will try to modify an old clamp, if I cant find a decent one. A valve spring compressor for a OHV engine I have for years. Just never needed a SV compressor up to now!

Try googleing Austin 7 valve spring compressor and you will find a selection of sidevalve spring compressors.
