Hi all, a long shot perhaps, I have a 1958 NH that has not been used for a number of decades. I am not intending to restore it, as it is quite nice and original, oily rag if you like. However, after cleaning the front wheels, I am thinking that they are a bit too rusty. I can't afford new rims, and they'd look out of place, (plus I don't think this is a long-term keeper, already have a '46 NG), so I wondered if anyone has a pair of Jones rims that perhaps they replaced and still have kicking about? 19 inch, I'm assuming WM2 but can check.
Also, the seat is very badly ripped, a new cover would look daft, so again, anyone got a slightly untidy but useable seat cover (beige) going spare?
Cheers, Tony.

Spend a bit of time with steel wool and a good metal polish. That rim is in good nick in my books. is it running true? Get a new seat cover and give it to my Dogs for a few minutes.(Just joking). Just ride it and it will look used soon enough. Nev

Well that is the main option, (steel wool and polish, not your dogs and a seat cover!nevhunter wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 3:41 am Spend a bit of time with steel wool and a good metal polish. Use aluminium foil as a polishing rag with diet coca cola which is a very effective rust remover.

Yes I've seen the foil trick, and I've used Coke in the past to remove rust, I might try them together as you suggest.charles.bulloch wrote: Tue Jul 29, 2025 10:12 am Use aluminium foil as a polishing rag with diet coca cola which is a very effective rust remover.
