qd wheel bearings
qd wheel bearings
Hi have dismantled the rear wheel on my mk2 sq 4. Removed the brake drum and combined sprocket. Wheel bearing in brake drum. On the timing side there is a bearing. On the drive side of the wheel should there be another bearing. I found a bearing retaining ring behing there is no bearing but there is a spacer that looks like it is there to locate a wheel bearing.

Re: qd wheel bearings
There are only two ball bearings in the whole rear wheel/brake assembly.
There are two spring steel retaining rings. A small one which locks the brake side, stub axle, into the brake side ball bearing; and a larger one which locks the brake side ball bearing into the brake hub.
There should be a grease retainer between the larger ring, and the bearing. Cheers, Chris.
