Charles, this is what I found, but the drive comes from the frontwheel, a later addition.
According to my dispatch certificate, my bike, Model VG2, was assembled at the factory on 3rd December, 1945, then exported as a 1946 model with a 0-80 MPH PA speedometer and a petrol tank that has the cable exit under the lower right hand side of the tank.Vincent.vanGinneke wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 12:22 pm Hi Ken, thats correct for a prewar and early postwar model.
Charles asks for the arrangement on top of the tank (?) or near the handlebar (?)
but Ken, please give us the year of your Ariel.
a Chronometric is fitted to paneltanks after 1946 (or so...) with a Chronometric the cable goes straight -vertically- down through the tank.
I think that the repro Indian tanks have both holes in the tank.
e.g. the hole straight down and a hole to the rear so to be able to fit either a PA or a Chronometric, and take even less fuel![]()
Thank you.Karol Burger wrote: Wed Mar 12, 2025 4:50 pm probably comes from this model
