That will be the oil feed to the rockers. I guess that tank is later than 1937?

Probably a tank from a twin, an OHV single with that style of tank would have the rocker feed from the timing chest.
(Somebody check the parts books!)

Not fatal, I'm guessing that the tanks are otherwise near as dammit interchangeable?

hi the two little oil pipes one goes to the rocker feed and one to the rear chain guard on the later Ariels to oil the rear chain guard
