telescopic forks

Post by I Rea »

Goodmorning the forks on my square 4 are in a pretty poor state the stanchions are pretty rusty. Is there anyone making replacement stanchions or someone who can rechrome them and not want an arm and leg. Failing that what other bikes use the same size/specifications forks.

Fork stanchions are readily available https://draganfly.co.uk/shop/82986/stan ... 602/#H5-54, these are the slightly longer type from 1954 that uses the longer top bush and if replacing ones from 1946-48 new top adapters will be needed. It is always useful, when asking questions, to give the year as well as the model. They may be needed anyway as they can be difficult to remove from the old stanchions. Hard chrome plating is more expensive than new but will last longer probably 100,000 miles instead of 60,000. You say re-chrome but they were not chromed originally, not any kind of plating.
