NH 350 1959 Red Hunter 276VME
NH 350 1959 Red Hunter 276VME
13 years ago I posted looking for any information on the bike I owned way back in the 60s. I am still looking, does anyone know where this bike is?
Dear 276 VME, Where are you now? I know you are still registered and taxed so presumably in good health. We shared so much fun, and not a few indiscretions, together in the 1960's and then we lost contact. It would be nice to know where you are and even to have a recent photo. Maybe we can meet up

Sorry that registration is not on the club's machine register but the majority of the bikes do not have the reg listed, do you have engine or frame numbers?

Sorry I have no engine or frame numbers from so long ago.
I have applied for membership of the Facebook group and will try to find the bike through this means.
Incidently I sold Ralph Hawkins the square four he so carefully rebuild and maintained.

I have looked back through my emails from 2012 when working with Paul Jameson we were able to narrow down the details a little. 276VME was registered between May and October 1959 in Middlesex and almost certainly had an engine number between CAMA 5500 and 5700. From factory dispatches a few likely engines are 5516, 5521, 5560, 5623, 5628.

There are 7 bikes on the register that have engines in the range you give, none with the numbers in your list. 4 have registration numbers listed so cannot be yours, although one has been re-registered but the record dates from 1992. Of the other 3, one is in a 1950 frame, one was sold by Alexander's in Glasgow and the other went to Leamington Spa and is in a 1954 frame.
I have made an entry for this bike in the register so that if it turns up I can let you know.

Do you think the dealer would give you the frame and engine numbers if you ask them nicely?
cheers
