Re: High Oil Pressure

I did think that at the beginning of this thread, which is why I asked if I should be worried. Maybe I should just put some tape over the gauge and carry on.

I replaced an old broken pressure gauge with one of the club's new replicas because when things are not working the way they are supposed to ...

Re: High Oil Pressure

I've got one of the smaller, earlier oil pumps.

I did wonder whether high pressure mattered at all, as long as there was a return to the tank. But I was also concerned that gauge was going to be constantly reading of the scale.

So after the comments about the spring pressure, I decided to try to ...

High Oil Pressure

I've got a recently rebuilt 1934 LH engine which has only done a handful of miles. I've just fitted a brand new pressure gauge and find that when the engine starts the reading on the gauge quickly rises above the 25 psi max until the needle hits the stop. So the oil pressure is likely greater than ...

Fins on Open Valve Head

Hi,

I just got my 350cc open valve head back from a welder who'd being doing some fin repairs for me.
On the inlet side, the four existing fins have a groove in the middle. Should the two shiny new fins (centre left) have the same groove?

My guess is that they should, but thought I would check ...

Re: LH Running In Woes

Lee,

I did try to wind the studs back out of the head, but they weren't keen on budging.

With the jet, I deliberately went up a couple of sizes to be sure I was rich until I get things sorted out. The plug is now quite sooty, so I suspect I will end up going back a size. From the start, I had the ...

Re: LH Running In Woes

Well the problem was definitely heat related, but progress has been a comedy of errors.

The first insulator that I got was really too thick for the carb studs, so the nuts would only just take. I figured they might shake off but still went for a short test ride to see if it made a difference. After ...

Listed and hyper-linked to the online copies of Cheval! That's a handy piece of work.

Re: LH Running In Woes

Gents, thanks to all of you for your suggestions and kind words.

I didn't realise that insulators got used at the carb - I've only got a paper washer there. I was concerned that the carb body was getting quite hot so that makes sense. I rebuilt it to the settings from the Draganfly site (110 main ...

LH Running In Woes

A few years ago I posted here about the butchered twin spark head engine I'd found.

Well the good news is that I've now turned a pile of parts into an almost working bike. This isn't one for the purists - most of the original project parts were wrong or knackered, and the bike only been completed ...
