Chopper oil problem solved

Hi Guys, I stripped a thoroughly cleaned oil pump and pushed a wire up the scavenger pipe to make sure the ball wasn't sticking, put everything back together and then primed the pump by kicking engine over without the plugs in. put plugs back in, kicked and started first kick. The feed back to the ...

More problems with Huntmaster chopper

Hi Guys, well once again the gremlins have struck so once again in need of some advice. I went for a short ride this morning and noticed the right hand cylinder was smoking a bit. I thought it would soon clear so rode about 1/4 mile and still smoking. Then right hand cylinder stopped firing about ...

Huntmaster "Chopper" now up for sale

Hi Guys, well this is indeed a sad day for me as I have no other option other than to offer up for sale my much loved "Chopper". I thought I would offer it first to you guys as you know how to look after these old, classic bikes and I'm sure it would then go to a good home.
For those who have ...

Chopper fires and lives again!

Hi Guys, Chopper fired up but only after I swapped the HT leads over. What I did: first I used a vernier gauge and zeroed it when I had 'felt' TDC (through the plug hole) so the tip of the gauge rested on the top of the piston. Then, very carefully, added 11/32 to the tip of the gauge. Wound the ...

Huntmaster chopper Timing question

Hi again guys, if you read my previous blogg concerning the magneto timing having slipped then you have an idea as to what is happening with my FH engine. The advance/retard mechanism seems in good order and no teeth missing from the idler cog so ready to re-time the mag. I can get the right-hand ...

Thanks Pete, Teeth on the magneto advance/retard are fine as are the teeth on the Idler cog but without taking the inner cover off I cant check the other cog. I'm not willing to risk damage to the inner casing so I'm taking it for granted that all is well with the cam. I'm reasonably sure that the ...

I've taken off the outer timing cover, Dynamo drive sprocket and chain, Magneto drive with Advance and retard. Removed the 4 recessed bolts that hold the inner timing casing but the casing seems solid and I'm loathe to hit it in case I break off part of the casing. Does the oil pump and worm drive ...
