Re: Oil circulation procedure

Well Simon although everything checked out as you said still no oil returning to the tank or rocker feed.
It looks as if I have tp bite the bullet and take the engine out of the bike and investigate further. Many thanks to everyone for your help.

Re: Oil circulation procedure

HI Simon,
The answer to your question is yes there is oil coming out of the sump, not in large quantities but definately some. From your reply it seems things are happening slowly, Am I correct in assuming this?

Re: Oil circulation procedure

Hi Guy's,
Further update. I have blown through every oil connection including the sludge trap, flow and returns. Before doing that I checked the ports into the crankshaft for crud with a drill as suggested but nothing excessive there.
I also checked into the sludge trap area but with the same ...

Re: Oil circulation procedure

Pete that,s a good point.
I did not delve any deeper into the sludge trap to see if there was any crud coming out of the crankshaft.
This is what I did today. Removed pump and sump cover. Lots of oil came out of the sump. Then I blew compressed air through every port under the pump area ...

Re: Oil circulation procedure

Wow Guy,s Lots of good info from you to get my head around.
Yes Pete I agree with you a picture is a great help. Unfortunatly I am not that good with computors and I do not know how to load and annotate them like you can. Any lessons on that?
One last wild thought. If I blow air into the end of the ...

Re: Oil circulation procedure

Hi Volker,
Did you mean the timing case cover fixing screw to the left of the oil pump? The hole in question is not threaded and lies directly between the left bottom cover screw hole and the pump. With the cover off oil spews out of there quite quickly and checking the cover gasket it does does ...

Re: Oil circulation procedure

HI guy's, The saga continues.
So far I have discovered that the oil sludge trap was totally blocked Nd I did not need to strip the engine down as access was possible via the sump.
But so far no circulation of the oil even whr running the engine for a few minutes
Next technical question.
