Hi Nev I bought my 1959 RedHunter this time last year it had been sat at the back of the garage under a rug for years. But she was all there minus air filter and in tidy condition. One thing that stood out were the wheels relaced all stainless spokes and rims, skimmed drums and new shoes,

Regarding adding two stroke I wasn’t thinking Castrol R although I love the smell I was thinking decent synthetic branded stuff.There are a hell of a lot of two stroke bikes and scooters out there all running E5 or 10 through carburettors having chatted to a ...

Hi thank you very much for your replies.
Yes I suspected the tank had been resin lined given its age but when I got the bike I put a hand full of 8mm nuts and 1/2 a pint of petrol and gave it a good old rattle then emptied it into a white bucket just a little rust that’s all. Had a Check for ...

Hi everybody I ride a 1959 Red Hunter that by and large runs and starts very nicely for about 400 miles and then I start to get petrol starvation problems, first she ticks over erratically then starting takes 3 or 4 kicks to start then power starts to fade.

Once again for the replies it’s great to get advice on this forum. Geoff Brown AOMCC was a great help with parts and advice when doing my gearbox great bloke now’s his stuff.
When I rebuilt the box I used hypoid 80/90 gearbox transmission oil used it all my life never had an issue.

Thank you all for your prompt replies.
I cleaned the oil tank out spotlessly when I took the entire back end of the bike off, to paint the frame mud guard chain case and rewire the electrics.
Also cleaned the sump and removed the centrifugal filter in the crank which was spotless.
