The owners guide for my 1958 350 NH recommends the use of SAE 50 or 60 oil for the Burman GB gearbox. I have read several posts suggesting the use of a mix of oil and grease and would like to know if there is any reason why I couldn’t use an oil such as EP90 instead?

Many thanks for all your replies! Original suggestion was that it was probably a worn needle jet - replaced that with a new genuine Amal jet and the problem was sorted. Just been on a 40 mile run and on checking the plug on my return no soot and perfect colour!

I will order a new needle jet and needle and give this a try - would prefer to keep the carb original if possible!

Hi, hopefully this should be a simple one - although I have found the correct main jet, throttle valve size and needle position for the monobloc on my 350 NH I can’t seem to find what the pilot jet and needle jet sizes should be. Any help much appreciated!

Many thanks for your replies - the slots on the clutch centre are certainly a bit worn so I’ll try filing them to smooth them.
Think the clutch centre still has its stop tangs so that should be ok but will also check for any fouling of the clutch operating arm at the gear box end. Have wondered ...
