You could try posting a picture or two. The reason for the problem may be obvious to someone on here.

Re: Square 4 Mk2 belt primary drive
The engine shock absorber would have a hard life without lubrication. Also the crankshaft oil seal would have to be in perfect condition.
It would be easier, and certainly more cost effective, to fix the leaks.

Re: Battery not charging
Hi Bruce. I would recommend that you dismantle your dynamo and replace the oil seal. The leakage will only get worse.
Also the rear bearing probably still has its original 1958 grease in it. Oil seals, and bearings, are available from Draganfly.

My choice is; Morris Golden Film AG90. There are several others which are suitable. Don't use a modern EP oil which, according to the experts, will dissolve bronze and brass.

This is the best place for it, unless you don't mind it being in plain sight. What you need is one of these. You then give this tool to a young person and get him to lie on the ground.

Re: 4g mkII
I've just checked my GB7 gearbox kickstart. If I bring any piston up on compression, then allow the lever to return to the fully up position. Then push it all the way down I get just three pistons up to and over compression. Try yours Ken.

Remove the distributor, and the nut to the right of the dynamo shaft.
