Burgess air filter for restoration. Complete, solid, rusty, barn find condition. Not been appart for many years.

Just a follow up in case it helps anyone else - clutch drag cured, mainshaft nut on the kickstart end had come loose causing mainshaft endfloat which reduced clutch pressure plate lift enough to not free the plates fully.

There's always more! Many thanks for the additional suggestions. From memory the hub splines were good, I wouldn't have fitted it otherwise. Plate flatness I didn't check specifically, will do.
Checking basket spins freely with plates stripped out is a definite one to do.

Thank you for those three replies with useful suggestions. I'll go through the clutch with the usual toothcombe. Nice to know there isn't something glaringly obvious which I wasn't aware of re the Ariel burman clutch.

Gearchanges on my W/NG are a bit crunchier than I would expect. I'm familiar with British clutches in general (but this is my first Ariel) so am expecting clutch drag to be the cause. Anything specific to the 5 spring Burman clutch to look out for? I have a WD G3L with the 4 spring version which ...

W/NG frame was on offer at Pugh's auction today, looked to be NOS. Pic attached of the interesting bit (sorry if pic comes out upside down!). Was the contract plate a common feature?
