Re: Cheval de Fer / March 2026
I also think that the report about the lathe is very interesting. My Myford super 7 is now running well and helped me doing little jobs already. I would be interested to hear what kind of "quick release tool points" are usable on the type of lathe.

Re: Semi Fluid Grease for Gearboxes
This is the type of semi fluid grease that I use and mentioned above. Very easy to fill into the filler hole. I was advised by Paul Meredith some years ago to add a cup full of 140 gearbox oil on top of the grease. This shall help to lubricate the gearbox bushes in case the grease moves to the outer ...

I get mine from a local tractor repair shop. They charged about 11 Euro for 1 Kg.

Ariel 1913 WP
I received a copy of the enclosed report of a nice original 1913 White and Poppe Ariel. I enclose a scan here. But, I am not sure if this is conform to the publication permits although we are here in a quiet and private group of enthusiasts. If not legal please delete.

Square 4 Mk2 belt primary drive
A friend asked me if it's possible to convert the primary drive of his Mk2 to a belt drive. His main goal is to fix the leaks in the chain case. Has anyone done this modification before? Any tips are welcome.
Thanks, Klaus

1956 HS for sale in Germany

I just spotted this Ariel offered for sale in Germany. Not my bike nor do I know the owner.
The bike seems to have a 1950ish round case engine. Maybe this is of use to anybody?
Regards Klaus
