$730 aud = £390 gbp.

Looks like £400 is the mark for a magneto rebuild.

Just my opinion of course, but I think the oils you are using are on the 'thin' side.

I'm using SAE 50 in the engine, gearbox and primary chaincase.

I wouln't start the engine on a 'hope' that the oil is circulating. :o

How long will you run the engine for until you decide thats enough ?

All depends on how damaged the thread actually is.

Start with a new nut of the correct type/thread.

I would use a needle file or files to make the correct 'adjustments'.

This way you can remove just enough material by keep trying the nut on the thread.

I would be afraid of removing too much with ...

Once you see oil appearing in the oil tank, put your finger over the oil return for a few more kicks.

This will drive oil up into the rockers and valve gear.
