Hi Brian, although I have cleaned the carb on several occasions I never checked the numbers, it will be my next step.

Re: Leader resto complete but alas a problem
Thanks for your interest Dave, I changed the 2 centre seals and the offside seal. The nearside looked in very good order.

Leader resto complete but alas a problem
I completed the resto on the bike including new rings on the pistons, the bores were in very good shape. All this was achieved for just over a grand and around 600 pleasurable hours of graft. However, it proved to be extremely hard to start and would only run on a high throttle opening.

Leader clutch plate
Hi guys, just putting my stripped engine back together and noticed one of the clutch plates has the cork wearing off in a couple of places. If anyone has a serviceable plate anď would like to sell it to me, please get in touch with me. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Re: Crankshaft connection bolt
Many thanks for your support guys, I cracked it, I found a chrome plated steel tube from an old vacuum cleaner, about 2'-6" long x 1 1 /2" dia. Over the end of this I fitted a huge 5' long x 35mm socket, which I bought to undo the nearside flywheel bolt. The 1/2" drive fitted nicely over the Allen ...

Crankshaft connection bolt
I don't know what's happened to my last post, I can't find it so here goes again. Thanks for all your replies about crankshaft nearside bolt. I solved the problem by making a strap spanner from a length of 1" x 1" oak ( yes you've guessed it, I am a retired carpenter/builder) with a length of ...

Re: Flywheel bolt
Thanks for your message Johnny. Would that be an AF spanner or perhaps a UNF? I don't want to get the wrong one.

Flywheel bolt
Can someone tell me the correct spanner size for the nearside flywheel bolt, leader? It measures 1 3\8" across the flats. My spanners finish at 1 1\4" so I need to source one to fit. Any tricks to hold the flywheel would be appreciated. At present I am trying to make a strap spanner.

Re: Colours of general fittings
Hi Simon, my 59 leader had admiralty grey where yours has ivory. This included the brake pedal, rear mudguard and footrests. My handlebars are plain alloy. I cleaned them up and sprayed them silver just to tidy up. I have changed to ivory, much nicer. The handlebar cover should also be ivory.
