Re: Square Four won't start

It might seem like a stupid question, but have you checked the plug leads are on the correct plugs? The leads from the distributor should be in the same pattern as the spark plugs i.e front right hand side lead (No 1) from the distributor should go on the front right hand side (No 1) spark plug ...

Either 3BA or 4BA, can't remember which. Sorry that's tank badge retaining screws. Didn't read the post properly.

Re: A new member needs advice

If you have Facebook, there is also a group called "Ariel Motorcycle group", where you will find a lot of members also in it. There's a lot of information in the "Files" section on the left hand side of the page.

Re: Flexible petrol pipe

Just an observation. Shouldn't your tank mounting rubbers be the other way around? i.e.thicker one to the top to support the tank on the frame lug? :)

Re: Chrono speedo repare

I'll second that one. I sent off my speedo from my square 4 (which wasn't working), and he emailed me back to say it wasn't actually the right speedo for the bike. He re-calibrated it for the bike, and reconditioned it, and I had it back as new a week later. Excellent job.

Re: '58 SQ4 REBUILD

Hi Stewart - if you're not against sane upgrades; - strongly suggest an Iron Horse alternator - 12v 300W - then you can see, be seen & fit heated grips, an en suite closet & whatever takes your fancy... recommend you do NOT use cheaper alternatives to the Iron Horse device...

Re: Petrol tank cap seal material?

Viton rubber sheet is available. Cut a new ring of this using the original cork one as a template. Viton rubber is resistant to ethanol, whereas cork will eventually disintegrate in contact with ethanol in fuel. Google it.
