The thickness & width of the spring, inc the two ends are fine, but its as though there are too many coils making the diameter too large.

I have now tried 5 different kickstart springs, none fit or work correctly, they all appear to be too big jamming the kickstart down when starting. Can anyone advice a spring that fits and works please.

Do you know Ian Austin, who is doing a similar thing, I have some pictures but it shows flanged carbs, think it was a works replica for Miller or Sandford.

Thanks everyone, I would have bought a new pinion just to get some dots, but have had no luck sourcing one; unless you know different?

Thanks; I coudnt determine or see any dot despite looking, think I need to get back inside and have another look, its not an easy starter.

It appears there are three optional keyways; when i removed the cover the gear fell out so what is the best keyway to use and why?

I was thinking it might stop oil seepage rather than breather?
