Re: mk 2 square four- piston crown height
Hi, I never had any protrusion but I had used an extra thicker base gasket in expectation... I stuck one of Drags paper-thin gaskets on to a piece of stout gasket material and then cut out the shape.

Re: mk 2 square four- piston crown height
Hi,
I went through similar this year using IMD's in a '51 mk1 with skimmed head and barrel. I'm really pleased with IMD.
I went through quite a bit of torture with the newly built engine missing after long gentle runs.
In the end, it was simply down to the plug temperature from running a much ...

Hi, For info,
My '51 Sq4 had a chrome tank. The works dispatch ledger is held at the VMCC library (Draganfly have a copy and dated my bike ). It showed by frame & Engine number that mine left the factory Feb 5th 1951.
Also, announced by "The Motor Cycle" 8th Feb 1951, p145, referring to their Jan ...

Hi
Only for info, The later shock absorber protects the splines with a splined sleeve and fits earlier crankshafts. I recall drags website explains the interchangeability.
I'm using an early rear crankshaft from an iron 4G, as yours with a lock-washer flat, on my '51 mk1 but use the later splined ...

Re: mufflers needed
This Guy on ebay has been trying to sell these for at least a year, possibly more...
I've been minded to buy them for the $10 asking price and ask him to throw them in the trash for me

Re: "F" cylinder wall mark
I struggled similarly with a BSA sloper regularly seizing after initial rebuild, despite original bore and piston.
Running richer really helped. e.g a slide with a 1/16" less cutaway.
I liked the Brass carb so persevered but I have heard only good things from people fitting newly-made Amals.

Re: Mk1 - Full engine dismantle
Hi,
I wanted to use a dished set of NOS dished Pistons in my MK1, probably intended for a cast-iron 4G but Drags liners proved exact size for IMD std pistons with only enough extra metal for honing, and alas around 3-4 though thou too big for my dished pistons.
So I went for the IMD pistons in a ...

They are not so complex really, and rebuilding from running condition is relatively straightforward.

Re: MK11 square re-build do`s and don`ts!
I'm satisfied the oil filter is well worth fitting. My oil stays golden coloured, with no blackening at all.
If I gave the impression it was debris holding the mk1 ball off its seat, that is not what I intended. I don't think my crank-end valve was being held open by muck. I think it was possibly ...
