Wheel Bearings

Post by John.Newbury »

Before I remove the rumbling front wheel bearings from my 1956 NH (full width hub) does anyone know the equivalent SKF or similar sealed bearing reference for a replacement? I have a number of bearings acquired in recent years and even the actual dimensions would enable me to identify/obtain the bearings before I start. Any help would be much appreciated.

These bearings are the same as used as main bearings in the singles, dimensions of 1" * 2.25" * 5/8".
In my parts list they are shown as 1440-30, and I have the following manufacturer/model numbers:

R&M LJ1
Hoffman LS10
SKF RLS8

If anyone has more up to date identifiers, or those from other manufacturers, please add these to this thread

Drags sell these as sealed bearing so you no longer have to worry about putting the grease in...oh, and they are cheap as chips!
