Hello to all hope you’ve had a good X-mas. I have tried to find in the forum my problem but could’nt find it
We talk about a magneto for a NG/NH. If i turn the magneto with my hand i have a spark over the breaker points. Sometimes over the igniter plug. If i connect the magneto to the engine and kick it there is no spark at all???? Now i believe that making an extra ground from the magneto to the engine eill help, but it is still a strange thing that it spsrks over the points. I have put new ground brush and igniter brush
Any one an idea?

Re: Magneto sparks at points
Hi Bram,
I think large sparks at points means the condenser is breaking down.
Cheers

Re: Magneto sparks at points
Yes it is, unfortunately. You need to disassemble the magneto and change the condenser.
I usually put in modern ones and fill space with araldite or something similar.

Hi Eero
Can you give me some info about that condensor? Where to put it / connect it and which type?
Thanks Bram

Hi Bram,
There is a condenser inside the magneto. Check out this web site for information with regards to your options:

Re: Magneto sparks at points
I had one of these Brighspark condensors fitted some couple of years ago and the mag has performed faultlessly ever since.
