I take it that is like salt? - it can't be fun having your bike dissolve away as you ride..
Ice, and whatever gritter stuff is must be a hoot?

" About the hearing clearer I even wear earplugs in my fullface to prevent me from getting deaf.
All type of helmets make a lot of noise ,more then the motorbike. "

There is no noise inside a Schubert helmet. Some times I'm scared by a strange noise, which turns out to be myself humming.

It's made from crushed rock salt, carved out of underground mines, and treated with anti-caking agents.
It is brownish in colour, resembles gravel, and does indeed dissolve your bike.

When there is a chance of ice/snow (sometimes), the councils deploy slow moving vehicles like this:

Wow, I'm impressed! - Ice, and marbles...
A sidecar would be a definite advantage.
Who or what is just to the right of the motorbike?

Perhaps because riding my bike makes me happy. Even after 500 km in the saddle.

They are too expensive for me too. I bought an ex German Army Schubert helmet at a jumblemarket here in Denmark and painted it in a more sexy colour.
And before someone tells me, that it is not allowed to paint such a helmet, I will hurry to tell, that the khaki colour was painted on top of a white helmet, and I just painted on top of the khaki colour. I didn't touch the helmet.
Late I had an accident in Austria, and the insurance accepted, that I should have a new helmet just like seatbelts are always changed in cars. So now I have a nice Schubert helmet in original colour.
Beside that I have an eggshell to use, when I'm airing an old moped or such things.
