electronic ignition

Post by ken-drink »

thinking of fitting a Pazon unit to my leader, has anyone done this and how did you fit it? is it any good? and where did you buy it from, lots of people selling them, is there one suitable for a 2 stroke and what timing did you use?
many thanks

Hi Ken, Hope you don't mind me joining in with a couple more questions.
*Can the system be used in 6 v format ?
*Will it be necessary to change to Negative earth?

Hi Ken. First of all, sorry not to find you at the Stafford show. Got Pazon on Delilah. For about 8 years now. Bought it direct from them in NZ. Easy to fit and great after sales service. Always fit resistor plug caps with this system. Trevor, if you go onto their website you can see all the options. I'm sure they do a 6 volt system. Absolutely no maintenance to do with this system. At the same time I fitted it, I converted to 12 volts so didn't need to change the coils as 6 + 6 = 12 volts. If you convert, the expense is a new 12 volt battery around £20 and a solid state rectifier for around £25, plus a few bulbs. The 6 volt horn will squeal better with 12 volts up it ! Hope this helps.

Hello Ken,

I have a Boyer on the Standard Leader and a Pazon on the MK270 Leader. The Pazon is easier to fit and time, I used a dual out put coil on 12 volts. The standad Leader is positive earth and the MK270 negative.
Just to check the timing I used the set-up in the picture, checking the peg in the hole to piston position using a DTI in the plug hole, there is a slight difference between the cylinders of approx 1/2 degrees.

i have converted to 12v and fitted a higher output alternator as i have 2 x 12v coils, seems to work but it is temperamental so i was wondering about the pazon system as it seems to have a good reputation , where do you hide the box of electronics?

Hi Ken. The black box is very small, not much bigger than a matchbox. On mine (Arrow) I've stuck it to the top of the frame to the back of the dummy tank. Plenty of space in there once you take the tool tray out. Can't remember what the arrangement is on a Leader.

Ken, you will need 2 x 6 volt coils or 1 x twin h.t. lead coil for Pazon

Andy is it possible to post a link to the type of coil you were referring to in this thread.
