New purchase

Post by wade.edwards »

Picked up this one because it became available and the offer was too good to pass up. It is a 1946 NG. Not matching numbers but so what. Eagle eyes are welcome. Not likely to change anything because it looks great the way it is. I suspect the petrol tank is VH and the headlamp pre war. I like the look of the big lamp so that will stay. Anything else?

You have bought it and are happy with it, what more do you need? it's looking very nice.

Check your chains, the rear looks very tight.
I don't have 1939-1946 numberplatesupports anymore so you"ll have to wait for a new batch, if i ever do an other.

It says Charger, is that a Dodge ? fantastic car.

Very nice NG also, yep huge headlamp! but it looks good on it.
Tank is indeed a VH model, with the 'ears' around the seat nose.

Have fun !

Hmmmmm, the "General Lee" in the "Dukes of Hazard" films was a Dodge Charger (earlier model) ;) .

Nice find Wade, hope to see it in the spring sometime, if the snow ever disappears up here in the mountains. What a brutal winter we have had in the interior of BC this year. You should be able to get out on it with the weather on the coast.

Thank you for all the enthusiastic replies everyone. It’s so much fun to share this kind of news with the only people on earth who get it!! So many others say, ‘what is an Ariel’? They don’t know what they are missing.
I will check the chains and everything else, Adrie, once it is at my place. I bought it on the weekend over the phone having seen it once three years ago. It originally was restored with 1951 crank cases. I helped the previous owner find a donor motor from California so now it is restored to it’s original glory.
It is currently on Vancouver Island and I will travel to pick it up in a week or two. Thought you might enjoy the back ground story,
Frank, it was 17 degrees C on the Coast today! Two fellow workers rode their bikes in for the first time this year. We can get out for a spin later this Spring when you are down for a visit.
LOL, big interest in the car. It belongs to the seller. The pictures are taken in his driveway.
Cheers
