Out and about.

Another ride out today before the cold weather and snow comes. Oil return sorted, flooding Carburettor and fuel leaks fixed. Just the charging to do now.

Hello Mike, That is one very fine & good looking Ariel.
I like that deep black.

Please allow me to give one comment....
You have the Altette hanging from the seat stay bracket by it's original (up front) bracket.
Using this angulated bracket fixed to the (cast) seat bracket it can eventually fracture the seat bracket.
That's because of the Altette's weight combined with ongoing vibration.
When suddenly one side of the seat gives away, you are in for a interesting ride.....
Solution would be to use a flat Altette bracket and mount it on the nearby mudguard fixing (use a spacer and longer bolt)
Or mount the Altette up front in it's original position.

Hi Vincent,

Thank you for your kind comments. As regards the horn I am in the process of moving it back to where it should be in front of the engine. Dave Owen mentioned the fracturing possibility as well.

The black does look good but to be honest I would like to paint it Olive drab as it would have been in 1942, but for the moment I am just checking and fettling things whilst enjoying the riding experience.

I love the unhurried ride and the low down torque.
