Thank you Paul and Paul,
I'll order a new chain tensioner as the Dragans have it in stock! If the simplex is correct I will let it.
As I have installed LED headligths and my dynamo (after flashing it) is working well, I dont need the duplex system.
Thanks again

New lessons learned:

a) The Morgo pump is not self-venting ! A bubble in the system >> no oil pressure! Thanks to my pressure indicator LED which revealed this!
As I replaced the inlet hose I subsequently had to open the timing housing and bleed the pump manually.
I will no longer use the wet sumping valve because in consequence there is no wetsumping with the Morgo.

b) Still too rich mixture: I have now taken back the jet control screw of the SU carburettor to 4 flats open. Had to check the needle type and position.

Cheers Rudy

Can not resist, have invested € 2.36 for a voltmeter (for battery control)
in addition to the ammeter and my load indicator LED.
Alreadiy at kick start, there is a significant increase in the voltage.

And even invested in a headlight LED that works really great.

Some minor oil leaks:

There was always some oil on the front underside of the engine after a test run. Have then seen that it comes from the inspection cap on the timing side. It is probably made from the notorious mazac/zamac. The spare part that I have got by the Flyes is fortunately made of aluminum :D .
inspection cap (Small).jpg
And had to replace the gear inspection screw as there was also a leakage.
Now there are ( hopefully  ) no further oil leaks.

Found it:
one of my pre-owners or hobbyists mis-mounted and bent/distorted this washer in the SU, resulting in internal leakage. :?: :!:  :?:

After the plugs have been"freed" the test run was very satisfying! :D
Starts now the first kick cold or hot :D. Also a real good tick over now. :D

Since today was really nice weather and there was close in Hohenschwangau a vintage car and motorcycle meeting, I took first my lovely smooth BSA A7 and cruised there to see what was going on ..... then back home and changed the A7 (my bread and butter bike) with the SQ4.

What a difference! The Ariel went off like a beast loud and gruff, but very inspiring. So I drove the about 20 mls with 60-70 mls/h ... I made my show there and came back after 3 h and about 50 mls in total with bright eyes and a bright smile.

Conclusion: was the best test run so far, still to do some fine(-st) tuning of the carb - the transition areas are not as gentle as desired, will do this after changing some gaskets and the needle. But all in all a great and hot ride - the oil filter was really warm too. But even in town traffic the SQ4 works fine. Have checked the spark plugs afterwards, all had the right color!

Compared with the A7 I had to improve the seating position (slightly higher for me) and the battery box pushes me on the calf.

Because the third gear was a bit louder than the others, I recently changed/refilled the transmission oil (SAE 50). There are now some minor leaks on the kick starter and on the shift lever axis and underneath at the speedometer drive, also on the primary chain case .

Now consider whether I should switch to semi fluid grease. :?: :?: But how many goes in the gearbox :?: :?:

Happy biking Rudy

Further steps have been taken:
I changed the transmission oil and filled in the fluid grease. Also the carburetor is now equipped with new seals and the jet is newly centered. Conclusion: No more leaks on the gearbox, the engine is now running with a very stable idle.
Have done a test run and am once to over 85 mph (then I left the courage) all was fine, good throttle response, smooth transitions now.

Since the battery box pressed me on the calf - when I had the knees at the tank pads - I had to relocate the ignition coil to bring the battery more inward. I have now moved the coil under the seat.

The screw head on the battery cover is connected to the hot pole of the battery . I can now simply load the battery from the outside without having to remove it.
Made this for all my bikes with a battery.

Happy Biking

Inspired by the discussion about the Shimmy and wobbling Anstey Link and the very good description by David Anderson (http://forum.arielownersmcc.com/viewt ... 9&start=10) for the friction damper, I did that also to install. Here an intermediate stage, I'm still waiting for the friction discs and star washers from the Drags. But it was really easy to realize. I'm looking forward to the first test drive, let's see if the occasional wobbly is over.

I think that was worth it!

Yesterday I got the missing parts, installed and coarsely adjusted it. Tested it this evening, hopped a few times over a nasty crosswise groove (railway crossing). After some adjustment, the effect was there - a clear improvement in spring collapse and rebound and also braking on the rear axle. :!:

Have opened a good bottle of bavarian beer to celebrate the day!

Cheers Rudy

So tell us more about the handling with your new dampers? Is it more stable in corners? Over bumps?
cheers
