Yes you'll have fun with that alright. And under the tree. Is your wife away?

Re: My new project...
Alloy head - Road Rocket?? Looks to be a big-bearing crank (difficult to see) - probably as it should be for a '57 bike. But pistons look to be the earlier lower-comp dished-topped ones.....and I think I see the very rare early attempt at providing a left-foot gear change - clearly not properly de-bugged yet!!
Very nice project though.

Very nice project though.
Especially when you get to trying to fit that rocker box over the push-rodsPaul Slootheer wrote: ....however this project will be work in (slow) progress...

Re: My new project...
Simon, I have to confess I'am not an expert into BSA but I think you are right this is a Road Rocket head fitted on a Golden Flash engine. It is indeed an 1957 motorcycle. I guess 85% complete. The pistons are dished and all is still on standard bore. However the engine is realy filty and it looks someone once have made a attempt to make the engine run on Castrol R... All in all a nice project when you not in a hurry as I'am. The bike came with a old style log book which tells me engine and frame belong together, so thats nice. I only see three owners including the motorcycle shop who acquired the bike from BSA's. The log book started in march 1957 and ended january 1962... It came from the Middlesbrough area.

The alloy 650 heads are now quite rare/expensive, might be worth checking that no-one's put an alloy A7 head in the 'basket' - although Mr Carter seems to be running one of those on his Huntmaster very successfully!

I'm actually now of the opinion that the alloy a7 head is better.Simon.Gardiner wrote:Paul:Paul Slootheer wrote: ...I think...this is a Road Rocket head fitted on a Golden Flash engine.
