Unidentified Parts

Post by tstewart »

I have got 2 identical parts that look like specs with the lens far apart. Can anyone advise where these go?
They are T2077 and shown on the Rear suspension page and said to be Top bracket spacers.
I found a picture in the manual fig 161 on page 192 but cannot see where they actually fit.

The two die cast spacers fit between the frame (underside) and the suspension bracket (topside). They allow the bolts that pass through the L shaped brackets and the toolbox then the frame die cast spacer and finally suspension bracket to be tightened fully without deforming the frame. p195 of the workshop manual explains all.

Hi Stewart, offer up the suspension bracket and you will find it doesn't sit tight to the frame upper surface. That is where you insert the die cast spacers each covers two holes of the series of four in a line. Between the frame and bracket.

If the picture you submitted is current then you need to remove the suspension units first to gain access lower the swinging arm and unbolt the suspension bracket before fitting the die cast spacers. I don't think you can do without these being fitted.........................sorry!

Thanks Michael I see now, I had just been outside to look at what I had. I have not seen this built up before but I understand now. Thanks for your help.
I do not mind going back a step or two to get it right.

Hi Stewart,
It's worth getting right. If it was me I would remove the top suspension nuts and just allow the swinging arm to fall away after first supporting under the engine, then remove the bolts holding the top suspension bracket, slip the die cast spacers in place and replace bolts and refit suspension unit top nuts. Bobs your uncle! Good Luck
