Ariel No.4 is making progress, but only in collecting parts ..
via a ad in the Cheval I got hold of a very nice crankcase for it.
Originally the KH had crankcase LE682, this one is LE882, as good as it gets I think.
In the past few weeks I have got in to contact with the last owner who actually used the KH in the seventies.
Well...to be more precise, his brother was the last one who used it in around 1975.
He blew it up ! nice to have such a caring bro.
Since then the crippled KH changed hands a few times, even spending some time on one of the Wadden islands.
Along the way it only lost a few bits like the carb and magneto .
Yesterday I re-visited the man who sold me the rolling chassis and on his attick he dug out the main culprit, the crank.
Visible is a big scar on the journal and a piece of conrod or piston scrapnel wedged against the flywheel.
And yes...a blocked oilway.
The original timingside with oillines and the cilinderhead also surfaced, the head looks very useable.
next on the cilinder, To be continued ..
