Stands for Bavarian Motor Werken. Not really an inspiring name. DKW, Das Kliener Wunder.Really? ( the Little Wonder) There was a bike called Alldays and Onions I believe.. The name should help to sell it. Nev

In Dutch : BMW, Boeren Mest Wagen (farmers shit wagon)
perhaps DKW could also mean Deutscher Kraft Werke but Das Kleine Wunder sounds much more nicer and like a boy'shood dream.

I always thought DKW stood for Dampf Kraft Wagen - because the company started in the days of steam cars?
cheers

There are different interpretations of DKW. To those already mentioned also include "Des Knaben Wunsch” (The boy's desire). One of the first products was a DKW two-stroke toy engine in base ...

As you can stray from the topic but ..........
