How to test 6V reg

Hi All
well its time to test the regulator before I install it and wire the bike. I have a 6v small regulator with two posts one says GEN and the other says BAT is there a quick I can do?

I dont think that is a regulator , just a cutout that only allows the charge to flow into the battery and not from the battery to the dynamo.
I've never seen one on a bike only pre-war cars.

So if I understand this the faster the mag spins the more voltage it makes and when the mag makes a certain amount of volts the points will close and then send volts back to the battery. so the only way to test it is to apply voltage and see if the points will close and see what the voltage is that makes the points close.

The points usually close at an engine speed not much above idle, if everything is in good order. Nev
