Calling electrical experts...
I have a plastic box attached to my W/NG, in which are sealed two series connected VRLA batteries. I cannot see anything written on these batteries.
Currently they are showing about 2.5 V. I realize they are probably dead, but I would like to charge them to see if I can resurrect them.
With no markings, how can I tell if they are 6V or 12V?

Re: Batteries
Since you are getting no answers... If there's some voltage they can't be dead. Charge them with a headlamp globe in series and see what happens. Once they take some charge (if they do) you will get some idea of the voltage they are rated at. Nev

Re: Batteries
Thanks for the tip Nev. I put another battery in parallel, which got current moving from the charger - all good now.

Aren't lead acid batteries characterised by the number of cells ?

Re: Batteries
Yes, but VRLA batteries have no caps on the cells so it's not so obvious. They were the size of a 6V battery though, and they looked like they had 3 cells each, and guess what? They were 6V batteries!john.nash wrote:Aren't lead acid batteries characterised by the number of cells ?
