1939 Square Four HVW98
Does any member own/know of this bike ? I was just looking through an auction catalogue from when I sold a Norton at Shepton Mallet and this Ariel was sold at the same auction.
There is a good photo and description.
It sold for £1500

I just checked on one of the ID checking websites and it would appear that this reg in now on a ETROPOLIS BELAIR, which I believe is an electric scooter. So obviously not belonging to a member.

Ian, Using the DVLA Vehicle enquiry site HVW 98 comes up as Square Four registered on 17th July 1939 and due for Road Tax renewal (zero cost) on 1st May 2016. I am not sure what site you used but I would be inclined to believe the DVLA details.
Regards,
Keith.

I couldn't get onto the DVLA site but the site I looked at askMID.com which purports to a search of the insurance database showed the ETROPOLIS BELAIR. Another site Cardatachecks.com shows the right details except make and model UNKNOWN
So much for the trust you can out in those sites.

Ian, DVLA site seems to work ok for me at the moment. The link John Nash has put on the other thread appears to be for road tax and is no good for a vehicle enquiry. Try :-

All the best,
Keith.

Hi Keith,
I used that link and got on OK to find the same details as you.
I also emailed the other site asking them to explain the error.
Nice to know its still about on its original number even if he's not a member.
