Re: My SF31 Restoration Blog
Nice Job Paul. That should inspire some to get busy and "make it happen".
Just to put your mind at rest re the fin repair.. The best is to heat the lot and build up the fin comletely with special cast iron rod and reshape it later with a grinder dremel, disc or rotary burr.. Bronze done carefully (as you have) is OK except in hot parts like the immediate exhaust port area, where it will eventually crack after a while . You were wise to leave the little fin near the plug because it is near the middle of the casting mass . Welding on the corners is much safer as far as causing stresses in the casting. Most cast iron welding on these types of jobs, is done with Oxy acetylene as TIG is too fierce. Some welding is done with nickel based coated rods or eutectic rods, using the ordinary arc welder, and the weld is peened to stress relieve at regular intervals . This is more suited to heavy blocks etc welded in situ..Nev

Hi Soren,
you might find some of your missing items with Karol of the Slovak Ariel Club. He is very helpful. https://www.arielklub.sk/ariel-club-slovakia.html
Good luck and hope to see another Sloper on the road soon.
Regards + Mvh Klaus

Yes that was me. I had it spare for my SF, but thought I would never need it.

Re: My SF31 Restoration Blog
Hi Soren,
my spare front silencer had been made in a small batch of new front pots. I think they were made in the czech republic. So it might be worth contacting Karol Burger if you want to get a new one.
Hope that helps
Regards Klaus
