Just to the workshop today, an easy day today did me good. Next week looks like London Dagenham and Bristol.

Looks nice yes but, must be bloody cold with the wind off the Itchen (that's the river in the background for the non locals) are there any doors at the front of the hanger? A bit of further info on the location, it is perhaps 150 > 200 yds from the old Super marine building, now demolished, (went there for tech when I served my Apprenticeship), where R J Mitchell designed the Spitfire and the flying boat that won that trophy that I cant for the life of me remember the name of it was derived from.
Just had a spark of inspiration, them moments are few and far between, I must cherish that moment, (don't get many of them at my time of life) and remembered the name of the trophy, it was the Schneider trophy, the actual aircraft that won said trophy resided on the entrance end of the Royal Pier, 2 pence in old money to get through turnstile, in Southampton for many a year (pier now burnt down and just a distant memory) I believe the plane is now located in the hall of Aviation in Southampton along with many a fine aircraft, well worth a visit if you find yourself in the area and at a loose end.
Nurse, I am starting to day dream, think it is time for my medication,

Did you know that in Osborne Bay lies `Whip Po´Will Jr.`
A 32 cilinder twin engined Bugatti/King raceboat that sank there after a on board fire on August 7 1920...
So if you have some more time to spend...

It has huge doors, so wasn't very cold for long, I didn't know where the spitfire factory was till I just looked it up. It looks as though it would be right under the new Itchen bridge. This photo has the floating bridge visible.

The Griffon factory would be just up the river just out of view.
I was back at Griffon.
Opposite the Griffon factory is Trestons our local blasters and bike painters.

There must be all kinds of stuff on the seabed of the solent Vincent. And apparently it can survive along time there, maybe the Whip Po´Will Jr.` could rise again like this old lady.

Nice machine Steven,
Maybe a idea to post them into the ‘W/NG Department’ as well?
Regards, Paul
