OK...it is not a WNG but my 1939 VH has clearly been through the war(s)..literally, having been cobbled together with all sorts of parts back in the 40 /50's. Some time ago Rob Jameson pointed out that my footrest were WNG. My confusion is that, being WNG, they should have no rubbers ....however, when I got the bike they were fitted with rubbers as shown below.

So my question is: Were there / are there rubbers to suit the WNG footrests? If not...where did these come from.

Unusual, Alan. Not seen these before. Why not ask Jeff Hunter- jeffalanhunter@aol.com if he makes or has ever made these.

I think they came from commercially made pillion rests , that are made of sheet steel folded in that shape. I have a couple some where.
I'm sure W/NG never had rubbers ,thats why the footrests have a pattern moulded into them

I would agree with Ian Scott. Rubber was scarce. The handgrips were of cardboard at one stage and the gear lever is lengthened for the soldier's boot. Pillion rest are similar pattern, and the design would indicate no rubbers needed. Nev
