1928 500 Timing Cover Oil Union

Post by tony.barnett »

Hello,

I am building a 1928 500 ohv (and have been since time began...its the reason why I joined the AOMCC in 1996 or 7ish) - I have most of the bits but the oil union on the timing cover confuses me - my timing cover has a threaded insert upon which I guess some kind of banjo fitting should attach the bottom end of the oil feed pipe from the oil tank. The oil feed pipe has the hollow banjo type fitting but I am at a loss as to what the fastener looks like.

Can anyone shed any light on what should be there? And does anyone have a spare (or know where I can get one)?

Cheerz.

You can see the oil feed connection above the hole where the oil pump goes.

Hi Tony

Have a look here: http://www.arielownersmcc.com/members ... on%205.jpg

Here is a nice drawing of it. The one in the photo must be broken or wrong.

Thanks Knud. I've actually found an elbow fitting that will go on the threaded bit sticking out of the timing cover. I seem to recall it was on there when I got the pile of bits which formed my 1928 Ariel starter kit.
