The most original 1956 VH in years
The only thing missing is the seatplate mentioning; only clean with water and soap.

that looks lovely, and makes the one I looked at seem expensive.
would be a shame to do anything to it
bad timing for me though, I go on holiday in a couple of days & won't get a chance to have a look

got me thinking about buying it unseen now....
as I'm an Ariel virgin, how much work is it to replace the pushrod oil seals & gearbox main seal as mentioned in the ad?
thanks

Don't bother about the seals, just ride it and put some grease in the gearbox.

I would check the carbslide for weare, you will have much more fun if it's tight.

Re: The most original 1956 VH in years
heard back from the seller- he says can't be ridden far with gearbox seal as it is... so how difficult to sort out?
may not be charging that well (says it charges ok at revs, but I may be unnecessarily concerned about that because of my lack of knowledge of bikes this old- different problems with my old Jap bikes)
bike was in use last year
I'm all excited now!

Well I haven't worried about gearbox oilseals leaking a bit, certainly hasn't ever stopped me riding one with a leak. He might mean something different.
Its a fairly involved job to change, but can be done easily without removing the gearbox and with bit of help from us here.
