My HT

Hi, Dave here, live in Birmingham, new to Ariels, had this a year now, tidied it up a bit but still not addressed the fact that the wheels are 1" out of line... It has a 350 crank/barrel/piston but I have the original cases and a new barrel and a knackered head and over winter it should be back as a 500 again

The wheels on my VH500 are out alignment by about that much as well.
No adjustment is sorting it out.

In order to stop the MOT tester looking too closely, I bolted a sidecar to it.

I'd be interested to know how the alignment thing turns out.

Hi lads, I think the alignment was caused by the previous owner falling off on the dirt, it rides fine though and doesnt go anywhere if I take my hands off the bars. In fact I was pleasantly suprised by the road handling as I read in the Don Morley 4 stroke trials book that they dont handle, and I tend to wring its neck a bit as I have a rebuild planned round the corner anyway !

Hi Dave

If you live in Birmingham then you need to come to Selly Oak branch meetings at the Coach and Horses at Wetheroak Hill near Wythall. We'd be glad to see you and the bike...

Hi all, thanks for the nice welcome.

Re Dave Pitt, I stopped and chatted to `Doug`(?) recently, lives round the corner from me on Peterbrook Rd, Solihull Lodge, Pattern Maker by trade I think, has a Huntmaster and another twin ( Buddy Holly special I think he called it! nice chap), he mentioned Weatheroak. Only problem is I`m on a daylight MOT and the nights are drawing in, I could drive but that seems wrong, or I could come on my A65 , but you lot might beat me up in the car park... ;)
Joking aside I will get down there, I`ll be in listening mode as my Ariel knowledge aint much, but still better than a night in watching the box.
regards Dave

Hi Dave

Sorry, I missed your reply...
You may have been the 'new face' down at the branch meet recently?

I shouldn't worry about not coming on an Ariel... I used to worry about that too and turned up religiously year round on my VB.

Nowadays one or two Ariels in the car park are the norm, and often none at all. The riding branch members often have a modern too, so there's often a non Ariel there. The outgoing branch sec Wali Taylor no longer rides on the road, and he's not alone...

You were talking to Doug Walker. If you live close to him then you're not far from me - Danford Lane, Solihull.

Come along one night

See you!

bit out of date but....ht5 wheels should be in line. assuming that you have the correct spacers
(none on the brake side front)
then the frame is bent. usually sidecar problems.....ring andy bamford in fleet, well known in trials circles. he will sort
you out.

Before you do anything with the frame , it might be worth while to check that the correct offset has been achieved with the spoking of the wheels. Nev
