I've had to send the live straight to the bulb, not through the dip switch, as the light needs a constant power source. You then have to run the earth through the dip switch which operates the solenoid which moves the bulb element from dip to main....

....I think!

Well, it seems very good, I'm off to Ireland next week which entails a lot of night time riding so that should give me a better idea.

I'm really hopeful for a good report. The photo looks promising.
If it is as good, or nearly as good as the HID it replaced, those of us with 35w gennies will have a whopping 15w to spare, more on low beam!!! We could have heated grips, well, warmed grips... :)

I think I can give you a good report Brenton. So far I would say its as good as the HID that I had previously fitted if not slightly better.
Rob is fitting a HID with a dip so his setup will probably be better then my HID, maybe we should compared beams :D
Its interesting to see the ammeter move far less now then before. Also it doesn't get brighter when the engine is reved.

Hi Steven,
Does the set up you now have fit into the correct shallow headlamp shell fitted to the late Ariel four strokes or have you a different headlight bowl ? I ask the question as in your picture of the headlamp it seems to extend some way back from the rear of the reflector.
Regards,
Keith.

Good question Keith, the one in the bike doesn't have the correct shell but my Cyclone does. I'll check it out.

Steve, It looks like a nice white beam, have you been out on the road at night yet?

Yes I have Keith, and seems very good but a ride over to Ireland will be the acid test so to speak.
