Rear mudguard and lifting handle/centre stays

Post by Keith.owen »

Can anyone help?

I desperately need a hinged rear mudguard and center stay(with lifting handle) for my 1950 Rigid VH.

I am on the waiting list at Draganfly but fear the registration number of my machine will be allocated to someone who can pay for a personalised number plate before a mudguard becomes available through them. I need to get the machine to the point at which the club registrar can feel comfortable about certifying it. I cannot say that money is no object, but I've invested so much to date that the thought of falling flat on my face at the last hurdle doesn't bear thinking about (especially telling the wife)! If anyone can assist I am happy to pay any amount within reason. Sadly I have nothing really to swap (save a 1948 CP gearbox).

I will be at the rally on Saturday.

Hi Keith. With so much at stake any old mudguard firmly attached will get you to the point where you can move forward with the registration process. Originality can be sorted out later, if you lose the reg number it will be very difficult to retrieve the situation. I can bring you a none hinged ariel rear mudguard to the annual (long term loan) if you want. Keith.

Keith,
This would be much aprreciated.

I did ask Draganfly if they had one of these but they couldn't help.

When will you be at the rally?

Keith,

have you tried Rennovation Spares, they do mudguards, whilst not original are a fair copy and much cheaper than the real thing. They advertise in OBM

Hi Dave,
The truth is that I've never heard of them before. I'll give them a try. Clearly, my long term goal is to get my machine as original as possible with the exception of certain modernisations such as rear stop light and other things to make it more compatible with modern road conditions. They will all be things that can be easily undone. The intention is to ride it not store it!!!

Thanks,

Keith

Hi Keith. I am there Thursday evening onwards. You can call me on 07752 498005 when you get there. To clarify I only have a mudguard without stays, but you are welcome to it for the duration. Keith.

Hi Keith,
Just a thought (long term) but Bruce Longman could be worth a try. He made me a new superb original pattern rear mudguard for my NH a while back. Cheaper than the main Ariel suppliers as well. His details are under 'Square Four Spares' on the inside cover of the club mag. Must be worth a letter or phone call!
Regards,
Keith.

Renovation Spares have a bad reputation for both quality and customer service; ask around before you use them. Bruce's replicas look exacty right.

Hi,
I maanged to pick up a mudguard at the AOMCC rally. It is not hinged (being the later type) but will do the job admirably. All I need now are some stays!!
Does anyone have any 1951 onwards stays for a rigid frame they would be happy to part with?
