Hi Adrie,
I found a drawing of something similar on google patents, but accidentally closed the window...
I was searching between 1900 and 1910 for 'mechanical valve combustion'. There were lots of interesting ideas!
I'll keep looking for the hacksaw type.

Olaf.Suess has pointed me to this Czech machine builder Pavel Malanik, http://theoldmotor.com/?tag=pavel-malanik, it's putting me in my humble carpenter place.

The winter is long, the project restarted.

Balancing the crank with a kitchen scale, I know that professionals do this differend but I want to post it anyway.
The single 500 crank has a very nice balance so I am using that as guide.

For starters I will make vacuum inlets but will make the desmo system later.
Update on the cam and followers, not much leaft of the 1928 cam, making followers is easier that I thought.
For the technics; 50 degree angle of the barrels, is 25 on the cam circel, devided in 2x 12.5 degree on the even followers.
When the engine is ready I will have to make it much lighter.

Sorry to the likers, i will stop this built as i cann't bring my self to make a less than 50% original motorcycle anymore.

I am sure there is someone who can make good use of the parts, the 50 year aniversery of the Dutch Ariel club in ower village willbe a good moment to part with them.

There is a guy on the isle of Man building the august 1905 road going 5HP V twin J.A.P - Ariel who'm has the original engine but the last time i spoke to him (a few months ago) i got the impression it's not going to well.

P.S. the barrels where honed to piston size and (almost :D ) ready.

Such a nice project but I am too far. I have my SB31 coming along so that is enough ambition for now.
