Here are some alloy cylinders, the thread for the exhaust port retaining ring has just been cut, not an easy task.
The other picture is the cylinders in place on the Leader engine.
With a bit of work you have the makings of a good racer Mark.

Hi Mark,

Ron did the machining of the bore and made the liner because they are too big for my lathe. I supplied the alloy castings and machined the thread. Ron also has patterns to make his own castings.

Hi All,
I'm having a pair of Alloy barrels worked on by Fahron Engineering for an ongoing Arrow Production Racer project for Parade Riding on circuits.
This is what alloy barrels look like when you get them back from the foundry, there are two sets of barrels here in the picture, one side of the finning has to be removed to make pairs then machined up, holes drilled for the head bolts and sleeves fitted with appropriate porting, a lot of accurate machining work to be done.

The cylinder heads in the photo are copies of the factory heads with extra section incorporated that have to be drilled to take a bolt for use on a twin carb crankcase where the standard front mounting lug has been removed.

Thanks Keith, you just cant beat that smell can you? maybe castrol R some do use it as 2 stroke oil .

Those cylinders and heads are diamonds in the rough! Did you have them cast and if so what is the min order?

Re the castings - Ron Philips of Fahron Eng. has castings made at a place in Ilkeston Derbushire. Manor Foundry is the name, they give the best price I have been able to find in the area. He is the person to contact re getting the castings made but you may have to wait until someone is able to get to the foundry to take the patterns and collect the castings. Ron has a long list of jobs which need doing and if you need any machining there can be a long wait.

The cylinder castings I had made a few years ago cost about £ 45 each but the cost will have risen since then.

Hi Brian, thanks for the information, I know these things will take an age to sort so as its the plan tho eventually have a alloy barrel twin carb motor I may as well start the ball rolling. I will talk to Ron at some point and if needed I can do the leg work. I would be surprised if the price hasn't doubled due to the price AF metal going through the roof.
